Job Opening: Social Media Assistant

Summary

The Social Media Assistant is a part-time opportunity (15-20 hours a week) and will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of the organization’s social media activities. Current college students are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Assist in creating compelling and impactful content highlighting our advocacy civic engagement efforts, including graphics, videos, reels and written posts for various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, etc.).
  • Engagement: Monitor and manage social media interactions, respond to inquiries and comments, and foster online communities to support the Coalition’s work and advocacy goals.
  • Campaign Support: Collaborate with the communications director to plan, execute, and track social media campaigns that promote our initiatives, events, and key messages.
  • Research & Analysis: Conduct research on current trends, issues, and social media strategies.
  • Storytelling: Help craft and share stories that resonate with our audience and effectively communicate our mission and impact.
  • Event Promotion: Assist in promoting events, Hill advocacy days, earned media, campaigns and projects through social media channels, and engage with participants.

Qualifications

  • Communications Background: Preferably a degree or majoring in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Social Media Savvy: An interest in social media and how social media can be used to engage in advocacy in state and federal policy.
  • Passion for Advocacy: A strong interest in higher education policy, public policy, or other advocacy-related issues.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Proficient in writing, editing, and verbal communication, able to convey complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Creative Skills: Ability to generate creative content ideas and use social media tools effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with social media platforms and basic graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, video editing) is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work is performed primarily remotely until further notice.
Visual and auditory acuity for extensive use of various forms of technology.

Compensation

$20/hour
