Job Opening: Student Engagement Associate
Summary
The Student Engagement Associate will play a key role in advancing the organization’s student-centered initiatives by coordinating and implementing engagement opportunities for college students nationwide. This individual will support a diverse range of projects designed to uplift student voices, strengthen leadership development, and expand outreach to student populations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about increasing access to and attainment of postsecondary training for today’s college students.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide support for the Student Ambassador Fellowship Program, including recruitment, training, and ongoing engagement.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of major student engagement events, including the Annual DC Student Summit and the National Student Hill Day.
- Support efforts to maintain and grow college student engagement in organization-wide events.
- Maintain and utilize project management tools to ensure timely execution of projects and deliverables.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to design and implement outreach strategies targeting college students.
- Partner with external organizations to coordinate joint campaigns and initiatives that elevate student voices.
- Contribute to organizational learning by documenting best practices and lessons learned from student engagement efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the organization.
Qualifications
The Student Engagement Associate will approach these tasks as an entrepreneurial enterprise, requiring a proactive approach. This role requires a personable, creative, dynamic, well-organized, and highly-motivated person with a strong interest in public policy and today’s students. Preferred qualifications include:
- 3–5 years of professional experience in program coordination, student engagement, higher education, or a related field.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable facilitating meetings and presenting to student groups.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal colleagues and external partners
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Asana, Slack, or similar).
- Flexibility, initiative, and a team-oriented approach.
- Ability to thrive in a small team and remote environment where teamwork, creativity, and flexibility are valued.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience organizing student leadership development programs, fellowships, or campaigns.
- Familiarity with higher education policy, advocacy, or student success initiatives.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Work is performed in an office environment, mostly sedentary.
- Visual and auditory acuity for extensive use of various forms of technology.
- The position is remote, but Today’s Students Coalition is based in Washington, DC.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000, and includes a competitive benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
