Established in 2016, the Today’s Students Coalition (TSC) is a nonprofit, bipartisan coalition uniting the nation’s leading policy and advocacy organizations, affiliates, and student advocates. We sit at the heart of an extensive national network united to forge the future of higher education through bipartisan initiatives focused on the needs of today’s students in higher education.
By working collaboratively with member organizations at the core, our community, and hundreds of partners nationwide, we accelerate legislative momentum of federal policy to strengthen higher education, equitable outcomes, and the nation through research, advocacy campaigns and projects, and civic leadership development.

- 34% are older than 25
- 43% identify as a race other than white
- Nearly ¼ of undergraduates are parents
- 55% identify as first-generation
- 4.9% are veterans
Our projects aim to:
- Advocate for accessible and flexible learning opportunities, connected pathways to and through higher education and employment, and equitable outcomes so all of today’s students can achieve upward mobility
- Establish policies that support today’s students’ needs, both inside and outside the classroom
- Modernize student financial aid to create a system that is accessible, transparent, and adjusted for today’s students’ real-life experiences.
