TSC and 24 Organizations, Institutions, and Advocates Ask for FY 2026 Investments in Postsecondary Student Supports, Basic Needs, Child Care, Financial Aid, and Campus Mental Health Programs
FY 2026 Appropriations Request
In an Appropriations Request Letter, TSC and 24 organizations, institutions, and advocates ask that as Congress develops the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (LHHS) Appropriations legislation they invest in key postsecondary programs.
The letter asks Congress to include the most urgent FY 2026 funding priorities such as:
- Increase funding for FIPSE (Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education)
- A permanent Emergency Aid Grant program
- A significant increase in the maximum Pell Grant award
- More investments in CCAMPIS (Child Care Access Means Parents in Schools) for parenting students
- Increase funding for campus mental health programs through the Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant (GLS CSPG)
At a time of rising costs and economic uncertainty, the letter asks Congress to invest in key supports to ensure access to and attainment of postsecondary credentials for today’s learners. These investments are responsive to the needs of learners and encourage a system of higher learning that is affordable. Investing in higher education is investing in our economy.
