WASHINGTON (November 14, 2019) — Julie Peller, Executive Director of Higher Learning Advocates, made the following statement to express Higher Learning Advocates’ support for the Protect Veterans’ Education and Taxpayer Spending (VETS) Act introduced by Senators Tom Carper (D-DE), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), and Jon Tester (D-MT):

“Higher Learning Advocates commends Senators Tom Carper (D-DE), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), James Lankford (R-OK), and Jon Tester (D-MT) for introducing the Protect Veterans’ Education and Taxpayer Spending (VETS) Act. This bipartisan Senate effort would protect student veterans and their G.I. Bill benefits by closing the 90-10 loophole. More than 340,000 post-9/11 veterans have used G.I. Bill benefits to complete their degrees. Veterans make a career out of protecting our country, and it’s encouraging to see members from both sides of the aisle stand together in this important effort to protect student veterans.”
